About CIDB

Who are we?

Founded in 2002, the Cayman islands Development Bank (CIDB) is a statutory body of the Cayman Islands Government, called to build on the strength of two former Institutions, Agricultural industrial Development Board (AIDB) and the Housing Development Corporation (HDC). The Cayman Islands Development Bank was mandated to creatively and aggressively carve its own niche in an already advanced and highly sophisticated financial environment. It was required to do this amidst the challenges of a deteriorating global economy and appeals from various stakeholders (including members of the public), for immediate institutional readiness and financial impact.

What is our function?

The primary function of the CIDB is to promote, facilitate, mobilize and provide financing for the expansion and strengthening of the economic and social development of the Cayman Islands through lending.

Who do we lend to?

Under the 2001 Cayman Islands Development bank Law, we are mandated to lend to any person of Caymanian Birth or Caymanian Status who qualifies for a loan. Our lending arm extends to all three islands.
